The Dental Board of California requires the following for license renewal:
Dentists: 50 total CE hours every 2 years by your birth month
- Maximum of 25 hours allowed via online (non-live) instruction
- Required courses:
- 2 hours: Infection Control
- 2 hours: California Dental Practice Act
- 2 hours: Responsibilities for Prescribing Schedule II Opioids
Dental Hygienists: 25 total CE hours every 2 years by your birth month
- Maximum of 12.5 hours allowed via online (non-live) instruction
- Required courses:
- 2 hours: Infection Control
- 2 hours: California Dental Practice Act
